JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR LANGUAGE SPECIALIST :
1. Conducting secondary research on markets, products or companies
2. Conducting primary research via telephone, email, fax
3. Developing reports on companies/industries/markets to publishable standards, primarily including translation
4. Managing and tracking project timelines to ensure timely delivery
5. Reporting on a regular basis as regards progress to the management
6. Complying with internal processes and policies including HR, Finance and IT departments of the company
7. Healthy interaction with peers et al
Competencies to be demonstrated:
Secondary Research Skills:
1. Strong interest in research and familiarity with global business/economic environment with an insight into the markets where the language is primarily in use.
2. Familiarity with databases, international research sources and content
3. Ability to search methodically from a range of publicly available sources
Primary Research Skills:
1. Strong spoken skills in the language of specialization
2. Strong understanding of the work culture in the countries where the language is the primary or secondary official language
3. Ability to get the required information following the desired telephone etiquette and poise; proper understanding of the business ways of communication in those countries
English Language Skills:
1. Decent spoken and written English language skills for internal communication
2. Good understanding of English grammar and sentence construction for producing reports in English, sourcing data from the specialized language websites, documents, annual reports
MS Office Skills:
1. Should have relevant working knowledge of MS Office
Problem Solving Skills:
1. Ability to think smartly and interpret data in the specialized language
2. Ability to reproduce the content in English in the required formats
3. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and deliver with regard to fast deadlines
Eagerness to learn:
1. Should be keen to expand skill sets and learn about business, markets and industries
2. Willingness to take up additional responsibilities when required

1. Good Verbal Communication
2. Flair for writing and eye for detail
